1. Why you would visit Sylvan Lake?

imageWell……

Let me just start off saying that being awarded the title Miss Teenage Red Deer County 2016 gives me the opportunity to represent the areas around red deer; hence County. With my title I represent Penhold to Bowden to Sylvan to Red deer to Innisfail to Delbern, and much more And for this blog update I will choose Sylvan lake as on of the places in my region you should visit.

The lake is a popular destination for tourists from around Alberta, with over 1.5 million visitors each year. Popular tourist activities include sunbathing, swimming, water-skiing, and visiting the local Wild Rapids Waterslides. Camp Woods in Sylvan Lake played to the 12th Canadian Scout Jamboree in July 2013.image

Sylvan Lake was originally settled by French speaking immigrants from Quebec and the United States. Arriving in 1898 from Michigan, Alexandre Loiselle and his family homesteaded the quarter section that later became the west side of today’s Main (50th) Street! Also “Sylvan” is from the Latin sylvanus, which means “of a forest”.

Oimage One last thing to make you visit or even pick up and move here is the locals. And by that I don’t just mean the people. I mean the businesses, people and the. hospitality. This old town is over 100 years old and is still bringing in almost the population of Calgary every year! Sylvan lake hosts Canada Day fire works and parades. They celebrate together as a family. In every event they host they are acting like they have something huge to celebrate and to add they

are the coolest people I have ever had the privilege to meet. Now I will show you in a video below why you should come and visit Alberta’s own SYLVAN LAKE!!!
