Today we had an early wake up call.. to be ready and out the door by 5 am. YIKES I was up at 3:30 preparing myself to be on Breakfast Television, http://www.breakfasttelevision.ca/, along with the rest of the contestants. Breakfast TV was an amazing team, they were honestly so out going and fun to be around. Since it was my first time being able to watch “behind-the-scenes” I found it very interesting. Everyone has to know what is going on at all times in order for the show to run smoothly, if not it would end up turning into a disaster.

After Breakfast Television, we went and ate breakfast (how ironic eh?) at High Park. They are amazing at cooking scrambled eggs, bacon and hash-browns. Yummy. We sat outside and boy was it humid and hot! I enjoyed how we could interact with nature… well until a BEE came and decided to hang around my table of friends… Pageant girls + Bugs = Loud Screaming. LOL Anyways there was

So today was a big day for all the girls as we had our interviews, photo and video shoot. Crazy! Crazy! Long wait just to get it done, personally I waited for about a good five hours. My hair and makeup were done by Motives Cosmetics http://ca.motivescosmetics.com/. They are a lovely team, my hair stylist did an amazing job along with my make up artist. The company started in 2008 by Loren Ridinger. Their key principles have been based on creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. Check out Loren’s video at Market America World Conference in 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49nPfAdbM28

After that was all done and over with, we had the opportunity to get fake eyelash extensions or a spray tan, or even both. I of course chose the spray tan because I needed some touch ups. I’m honestly so tan right now it is unbelievable. I went with the darkest spray solution possible, because that is what I normally get at Fabutan in red deer, but it never turns out really dark, like after I look the way that I did before. However, spray tan is a huge thumbs up. Golden Glamour Goddesses company is spot on amazing  http://www.gggoddesses.com/. On their webpage they have a lovely Do’s & Dont’s (http://www.gggoddesses.com/page/dos-donts/) I highly recommend that you listen to their instructions as your tan will last longer, and it will come out more even. They told me today that my tan due to my ph level of my skin should last me a good 6 days! AMAZING as preliminaries are this Thursday.

Anyways tomorrow is a huge day as we will be up early to star in BREAKFAST TELEVISION!

Bonne Nuit <3

What a crazy day I have had. Been up since 1:30 am (Alberta time), caught my flight at 6:20 am. and then arrived safely in Toronto around 12:30 (Toronto time) thanks to the amazing WestJet Team! I was able to get a picture with the pilots, along with four other delegates who arrived on the same flight as me. It was my very first time flying by myself and with their help they made it a great experience. I shouldn’t be flying for long periods of times because it endangers my health. I have anti-coagulated blood disorder, that is carried down due to genetics. My blood clots are in my upper left thigh, my stomach (a huge mass of blood clots are found here) and in my left lung. These blood clots have hospitalized me for a week and a half. I am so blessed to be allowed to compete for Miss TEENage Canada pageant because of my health I should still be on bed rest. However, I am a trooper and I am determined that I can make it through this busy, fun packed week ahead of me!

Also, today I met my lovely roommate, Miss Teenage Southern Ontario (Ronnie <3). It is crazy how we got paired up. We both lost our fathers to tragic conditions, we both enjoy sports and singing, we are both ambidextrous, we both enjoy shopping for clothes, and have similar personalities. Thank you to the Miss Teenage Canada team for assigning her to be my roommate! I honestly just love her already.

Around 7:00 pm all 70+ girls met our sponsors, which include Golden Glamour Goddesses (http://www.gggoddesses.com/), Hi-Tec Shoe Company (https://www.facebook.com/HiTecUSA), Motives Cosmetics (http://ca.motivescosmetics.com/), and Wright Spa Mobile Services (https://www.facebook.com/wrightspamobile). Today the leaders of these four sponsor companies taught all 70+ girls about their products. In return, we get free shoes (WHICH ARE SO COMFY), our make up and hair are going to be completed by Motives Cosmetics, and we have the option to get our eyelash extensions and spray tans from Golden Glamour Goddesses. Since I already have long enough eyelashes and fake eyelashes to last me a good three months, I chose to go with the spray tan, which we get at a really good price!

Anyways Bonne Nuit <3 (Goodnight)

To those that are competing this year I wish you the best of luck! Some advice from me to you would be to just be yourself yet have a grip on being competitive, don’t let it get the best of you though. Have fun with everyone that is competing.

Miss Teen Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) began about 25 years ago, with a team built with  experience in the entertainment business, they have diverse backgrounds in areas including acting, modelling, dance, and theatre production. They promote/allow girls across Canada to show the world her own kind of beautiful. To me this can presented through a variety of ways such as culture, disabilities, their unique platforms, or even just the beautiful hearts they have. I think to be Miss Teen Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) you have to display several qualities that make you beautiful. They can vary from the simplicity of your heart to the beauty you show on the outside. I hope that I display these qualities. Anyhow, Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com)  was formally known as Miss Teen Canada- World (www.missteenagecanada.com). Previous title holders of Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) vary in age from 16-18 years old, so there is no fixed age. Requirements to enter Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) are very relaxed, there are no height restrictions, contestants must be between the ages of 13-19 years old, and there is no experience necessary.

The Original Miss Teen Canada Pageant that our parents remember was called Miss Teenage Canada for the first three years (1969 to 1971). They then renamed it to Miss Teen Canada in 1972.   The pageants were always held in Toronto, Ontario. After the 1990 pageant it was discontinued due to financial concerns.  This pageant was based off of your personality and beauty in Canada for women aged 14 to 17. The pageant was sponsored by A&W Drive-Ins therefore the event could be televised on CTV. The former ‘Miss Teen Canada‘ doesn’t exist anymore, but there are competitions with the title Miss Teen Canada, such as this one www.missteenagecanada.com. Ever since watching Miss USA, I have always dreamed of earning the title Miss Teen Canada or even Miss Canada. It is something a girl should dream of, you basically are the princess of your country. The feeling of having people look up to you gives me shivers up my spine, I want to be a good role model, and being in this pageant, Miss Teenage Canada www.missteenagecanada.com, (which just so happens to be the largest pageant in CANADA) has given me the characteristics needed to be a great role model. In just under a week, I will be experiencing Miss Teenage Canada www.missteenagecanada.com, with at least 70 girls from all across Canada. if you would like to apply for the pageant be sure to check out the link www.missteenagecanada.com/become-mtcw/apply-now and also be sure to like the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MissTeenageCanada. This is the largest Teen Competition  (http://www.missteenagecanada.com/about-mtcw/company-profile)  in Canada and is Owned by MTC-W Inc.  and Produced by Michelle Weswaldi  (http://www.missteenagecanada.com/about-mtcw/meet-the-team)

With this pageant, girls raise money for a fundraiser called Free The Children www.freethechildren.com . This fundraiser allows under privileged children to be able to attend schools where needed in third world countries. As free the children company said “There are no magic bullets to end poverty. But there are plenty of great silver bullets that, together, can get the job done.” I’m blessed to have been able to help these children, which couldn’t have been completed if I didn’t have the support from my community, friends, and family.

If I were to win the title Miss Teenage Canada www.missteenagecanada.com, I would attend as many fundraising events for a variety of things, such as food bank donations, animal shelters, even the local homeless shelter. I’d be sure to get as many individuals to donate to many programs such as our Womens Outreach program here in Red Deer. With being Miss Teenage Canada www.missteenagecanada.com I would make sure to maintain a positive body image, by staying fit, eating healthy and setting myself up with good morals. I want to be able to have a little kid come up to me and tell me that s/he wants to be like me when they grow up, I want to be a positive influence on younger individuals. If I have time, I’d try to attend college by putting my earnings towards getting a degree in Nuclear Medicine, which is a two year program held at S.A.I.T. in Calgary. That is what I would do with my title.

As you all know, I am the oldest of three children and come from a single parent home. My younger sister Michelle is very inspirational. Every day she inspires me through her actions and all I can say is that she can be very… creative. She makes me laugh with her outgoing personality and has the sweetest intentions anyone on this Earth could have. One day I hope she gets enough courage to enter into a pageant like I did because not only is she beyond gorgeous, but she is also very passionate. She demonstrates her passion through her sports, she gets right into the game and is a team player. One of her strongest characteristics is leadership, she can pull together strong ideas and plays for her team, even though she undergoes hardships where not everyone agrees, she continues to push through.

I also have a younger brother Matthew. He is currently in the sixth grade and is exceeding high grades. He is very smart and shy and strives at everything. He is determined to get things done as soon as he can. He was currently in the RED DEER 4H june 31-2 with is Delburne team. His steer placed second in one of the competitions. I am very proud to have him as my younger brother, actually I couldn’t be more happy.

Every 54 days (a good two months) I go in and donate blood. For my first time I only did it because I needed religion hours. However, I had a great experience which influenced me to donate every chance that I get. This past Saturday, April 5, 2014, my friend Theresa Adams donated blood for her very first time!I told her “Nerves are to be expected, but trust me it will be a pinch and before you know it, you’ll be done.” She actually finished donating before I did! It was my third time donating, therefore Canadian Blood Services gave me this adorable key chain! Thank You so VERY much <3

Normally it takes a donor 5-8 minutes to fill up a bag. It took Theresa  give or take 10 minutes, and that was with one glass of water in her system. I had drank water before as well, however, my blood flow was poor and it took me 15-20 minutes. Turned out the needle was up against a valve that kept fluttering. OH well 🙂 I enjoy to donate blood and I believe everyone should. I am A Rh+ (36% of Canadians are this type) so I don’t necessarily need to donate. However, if i was A Rh- (6%) It would be a recommendation to.

  • A Rh +    36%
  • A Rh –    6%
  • B Rh+     7.6%
  • B Rh-     1.4%
  • AB Rh+  2.5%
  • AB Rh-   0.5%
  • O Rh+    39%
  • O Rh-     0.7%

Here is a photo of my Donor Card!

Thank You For Tuning In! Also really consider donating!

A second chance at life is the best gift you could give to someone.

On Wednesday March 13, I had the opportunity to attend the Dress It Up Event held at the Loyal Order Of Moose Hall this evening. Lots of lovely ladies attended this event for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness. Parklane Jewellers has been around since 1955, it originally was founded in Chicago. They have a beautiful jewelry line! Be sure to check it out!

Parklane Jewellers

Patty Koch was the director who invited me to the event. She’s actually gave my wonderful ideas on hosting my own Jewelry Party! My friend Tristan Dave tagged along with me tonight and she also wants to help out with the party! Super excited!

Here are some few examples of the jewelry that I thought were just absolutely adorable

Are they not just super CUTE?

I am the oldest of three children and I come from a single parent home. I live with my mom, younger sister and brother. My dad is a chronic alcoholic who has cirrhosis of the liver, and this has impacted my life greatly. I believe the public should educate themselves in the subject and be more aware of what alcoholism truly is because it not only is a physical disease, it is also a mental illness. I want to create a voice loud enough to spread enough awareness to hopefully increase the legal age for alcohol consumption. In Alberta the legal age is 18, I believe it should be closer to the age of 25. Teenagers are not mature enough to handle alcohol yet alone their own lives at 18. Did you know over the last five years, there have been 43,111 criminal convictions for impaired driving in Alberta? That between 2008 to 2012, 78 victims have died because of a drunk driver. The true cost of drinking is the victims. My father started to drink heavier and on a regular basis shortly after the passing of his mom (my nana) back in 2004. She influenced his life, and my families life greatly. My dad drinks to forget his problems, to get away from the real world. Most of the teenagers that I know, get pretty wild from drinking alcohol. I truly believe that at the age of 18 you are not yet responsible enough for that opportunity in your life. My dad is 48 now and he still isn’t responsible when it comes to drinking alcohol. These past two years I have had no contact with my dad due to an EPO (Emergency Protection Order) in place. He is not allowed to contact or come near my family or myself.  My mom and dad are currently in the process of a divorce. This is why I wanted to do the pageant. To focus on me, to help me cope with my emotional well being and to prove that I am a fighter and that no matter what your background is, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

To me my dad has a disease, you can’t do anything to help, only he can make the decision. YES it is extremely hard to deal with, but I’m not the only one. Many of my friends have, or are going through a similar experience as me. We have each other to hold onto in tough times like these. Did you know 20% of Canadians between the ages of 20 to 24 are alcoholics. THAT is a very young age. This is why I think that the legal drinking age, not only in Canada, but worldwide, should be 25. You wouldn’t have the chance to be part of the 20%. You would have a greater chance of being the 80% responsible when drinking.

If you happen to be drinking, be safe and always ensure you have a responsible sober driver to get you home. Never get into a vehicle with someone under the influence. Be sure to let someone know where you are and what your plans are for the night. I want to put an end to Alcoholism, and I hope that you do as well. Together we can all make a difference.
